The construction of the Tower of Pisa began in August 1173 and continued for about 200 years due to the onset of a series of wars. The tower, designed as a circular tower, stands 183 ft 3 in high on the low side and 185 ft 11 in on the high side. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a wildly popular tourist attraction, especially for the shot of “supporting the tower”. Although it is considered an architectural blunder, it is one of the most visited monuments of Italy. It is one of the four buildings in the Square of Miracles or Piazza dei Miracoli and was meant to be a bell tower. While it was initially designed to stand upright, in the middle of its construction, the tower started to lean because of the shifting ground underneath it. After the completion of the construction, the tower that was meant to be 60 meters tall is now about 57 meters on its highest point.
